Houston, Texas, Nov. 9, 2010 --- ConocoPhillips anticipates plenty of Texas-style hoopla at the 24th annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run on Feb. 26, 2011. The event includes a 10K race and 5K fun run/walk that raises scholarship funds for Texas youth. Registration for the 2011 Rodeo Run begins Dec. 1, 2010.

The ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run is known all around Houston for its festive atmosphere complete with costume contests and a Texas-size post-race party. Runners and walkers will experience Houston’s only point-to-point 10K race and 5K fun run/walk that kicks off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ (HLSR) Parade. This year, a record 15,000 Rodeo Run participants are expected to join in the fun – making their way through the streets of downtown Houston as an energetic crowd cheers them on to the finish line.

The Rodeo Run donates all registration entry fees to the HLSR Educational Fund. Last year’s event alone raised $310,000 for the HLSR Educational Fund. In the Rodeo Run’s 24-year history, ConocoPhillips has raised more than $2.5 million in scholarship funds and awarded over 200 individual scholarships to qualified Texas youth. ConocoPhillips hopes to increase participation again this year to raise a record amount of scholarship funds.

"We are thrilled about the 24th annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, and we look forward to one of our most exciting and festive events yet. The Texas fanfare, western costumes and country-themed post-race party help make the Rodeo Run one of the most popular and memorable events in the greater-Houston area," said ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run finish line and post-race party director, Steve Moskowitz. "We are proud to contribute to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund again this year."

The Rodeo Run offers an event for everyone, including a 10K run, 10K and 5K wheelchair races and a 5K fun run/walk. The 2011 events begin at 9:25 a.m. at the intersection of Texas Ave. and Smith St. and finish with the giant post-race party at Minute Maid Park. A combination of cowboy hats, chaps, denim and running shoes will line the racecourse in anticipation of the events. Both adult and youth participants will enjoy music, food and family fun at the post-race party.
